romantic meal for2 Romantic Meal For Two? Why Not…

Is it the sweet fragrant smell of love that is filling your lungs or the smell of your favourite gourmet steak?

Whatever you love most about Valentines day – the romance, the flowers, the fancy restaurants… creating the perfect romantic atmosphere doesn’t have to be expensive.

In fact, you can easily sweep your partner off their feet by whipping up their favourite meal at home.

Romance? At home? Impossible…

Despite everything you’ve heard, when it comes to creating a little romance, nothing beats the personal touch.

So if you fancy impressing your partner with something different this year, then why not showcase your cooking skills and show them how much they mean to you?

And it is easier than you think…

For one, at WG we can help.

Alongside supplying you with some mighty fine steaks, lamb chops and duck breasts, below we have come up with a few tricks that will ensure that your Valentines Day goes off without a hitch:

  • Keep it simple – now we are not talking about getting a take-away (unless your fav restaurant is willing to send their food to your home). What we mean is taking the time to recognise what you can and can’t do as well taking into consideration how long you have got to do it.For instance, if you have got an entire romantic day planned or are stuck at work, then you won’t have hours spare to create a 3 course meal. For this reason do the following:
  •  Prepare as much as you can in advance: anything you can prepare the night before or in the morning, do it. This will free up your time in the evening to woo your partn
  •  Pick a meal which is easy to cook: unless you have got a pressure cooker or a slow cooker to hand, choose a meal which won’t take hours to prepare. After all, who wants to spend Valentines Day sitting watching TV, whilst you are cooped up in the kitchen for hours on end?
  • What do they like– hopefully you are already aware of what your partner does and doesn’t like. Now using this info, choose a meal which they don’t get to eat very often but are sure to love.Remember: just because mussels are an aphrodisiac doesn’t necessarily mean your partner is going to like them? Choose wisely…Here are some helpful suggestions to get you started:- Steak with mushroom puff tartlets
    - Chorizo chicken with chilli wedges
    - Salmon with tarragon Hollandaise
    - Roasted duck breast with plum sauce
    - Griddled rump steak with watercress, hazelnut & red chilli pesto
  • Go the extra mile – normally eat in front of the TV? Swap this scenario out for slow music, their favourite wine, low lightening, a beautifully decorated table and 3 scrumptious courses. If they can do it on ‘Come Dine With Me’, then why can’t you?
  • Practice– if you’re making a dish you’ve never tried before or you’re still new to cooking then you may want to have a practice beforehand. Now we won’t lie… This going to be hard, especially if you live with your partner. But if you’re aiming to impress, then getting it right will be worth it.Simply tell them to enjoy a day with their mates, see a film, go to the pub or if you’re feeling a bit adventurous send her on a spa day as an extra Valentines day treat.

And that’s it. You’re all set!

So give it a go, and watch them go weak at the knees from your romantic gesture. We promise it will be worth the effort…
